About WeLoveDoritos
The internet's most enthusiastic fan community dedicated to the world's most iconic chip.
Our Story: How WeLoveDoritos Was Born
It started, as most great things do, with a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos and a passionate argument about which flavor is objectively the best. A group of snack-obsessed friends realized there was no single place on the internet that truly celebrated Doritos the way they deserved — not just as a chip, but as a cultural institution, a comfort food, a conversation starter, and a genuine culinary ingredient.
WeLoveDoritos.com launched with a simple mission: to be the internet's most enthusiastic, most knowledgeable, and most fun destination for everything Doritos. We're not a corporate site. We're not affiliated with Frito-Lay or PepsiCo in any way. We're just fans — deeply, unapologetically obsessed fans — who wanted to build a community around the chip that has been making people's taste buds explode since 1964.
Since launching, we've grown into a community of thousands of Dorito devotees who share stories, swap recipes, debate flavors, and celebrate the humble tortilla chip that somehow became one of the most iconic snack brands in the world. Every article, every recipe, every flavor review on this site is written with genuine passion and firsthand experience — because we actually eat these chips. A lot of them.

Our Editorial Approach
Every piece of content on WeLoveDoritos.com is written with a genuine love for the subject. We don't publish thin listicles or regurgitated product descriptions. Our blog posts are full-length articles with real opinions, personal anecdotes, and specific details that only a true Dorito fan would know. Our recipes are tested and written with the kind of detail that actually helps you succeed in the kitchen — not just a list of steps, but explanations of why each step matters.
Our flavor reviews are based on firsthand tasting experience. When we say Flamin' Hot Nacho has a slow-building heat that hits the back of your throat differently than Spicy Nacho, we know that because we've eaten both — repeatedly, side by side, with a glass of milk nearby just in case.
We also take our community seriously. User-submitted stories go through an editorial review before publication. We check for originality, quality, and whether the story is genuinely entertaining or informative. We'd rather publish fewer stories that are actually good than flood the site with content that wastes your time.
Why Doritos? A Brief Cultural History
Doritos were invented in 1964 at Disneyland's Casa de Fritos restaurant in California, where a clever chef named Arch West noticed that leftover tortillas were being fried and sold as chips. He brought the concept to Frito-Lay, and the rest is snack history. The name "Doritos" comes from the Spanish word meaning "little golden things" — and honestly, that's exactly what they are.
What makes Doritos culturally significant isn't just the flavor — it's the boldness. Doritos were the first nationally distributed flavored tortilla chip. They pioneered the idea that a chip could have a personality, a brand identity, and a fan base. The Super Bowl commercials. The Crash the Super Bowl contest. The limited-edition flavors that generate genuine internet buzz. Doritos has always been willing to take risks that other snack brands wouldn't touch.
Today, Doritos is one of the best-selling snack brands in the world, with dozens of flavors sold across more than 60 countries. Each region has its own unique flavors — Japan has Coconut Curry, the UK has Chilli Heatwave, and Mexico has flavors that Americans can only dream about. Part of what makes being a Dorito fan so interesting is that the rabbit hole goes incredibly deep.
That's what this site is about. We're here to go down that rabbit hole together — to celebrate the flavors, the memories, the recipes, and the culture that has made Doritos one of the most beloved snack brands in human history. Whether you're a lifelong Nacho Cheese loyalist or a recent convert to the Flamin' Hot side, you belong here.
Transparency & How We're Supported
WeLoveDoritos.com is a free, independent fan site. We keep the lights on through two revenue streams: display advertising through Google AdSense, and affiliate commissions through the Amazon Associates Program. When you click an Amazon link on our site and make a purchase, we earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This helps us continue creating content and maintaining the site.
We want to be completely transparent about this: our editorial content is never influenced by advertising or affiliate relationships. We don't recommend products because we get paid to — we recommend them because we'd actually buy them ourselves. If a Dorito flavor is bad, we'll say it's bad. If a recipe doesn't work, we'll tell you. Our readers' trust is worth more than any commission.
