My Dorito Proposal Story — She Said Yes (And Also "You're Weird")

People propose with diamonds. People propose at fancy restaurants. People propose on top of the Eiffel Tower.

I proposed with a bag of Doritos.

Here's the thing about Sarah and me: our first date was at a movie theater where we shared a giant bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos. We bonded over our mutual love of the perfect crunch, the exact right amount of cheese powder, the way the triangular shape somehow makes every bite feel intentional.

So when it came time to propose, I knew I had to incorporate Doritos somehow. I ordered a custom bag — yes, you can do this — with our photo on it and the words "Will You Marry Me?" printed where the flavor name usually goes.

I handed it to her at the same movie theater, in the same seats, watching the same movie franchise we'd seen on our first date.

She opened the bag. She read the bag. She looked at me. She said, and I quote: "You're so weird. Yes, obviously yes."

We're getting married in June. The wedding colors are orange and yellow. The snack table will be entirely Doritos.

Some people say romance is dead. Those people have clearly never experienced the magic of a perfectly timed Dorito proposal.
